| It is a wonderful experience to narrate in this quilt, a little bit of the history of my town. In my town there are a lot of women that live alone with their young children because most of the men come to the United States to work and thus, give their children a better life. The single women also have to wait for years for their boyfriends who come {to the U.S.} to save money so that they can get married. It is very sad for some women to see that their men return married to other women or leave their children abandoned. I am really fortunate that my husband returned after eight years so we could be married. This is my first quilt. I hope to learn much more about the details of the quilts my peers have made. I have already learned many things from my classmates. |
Es una gran experiencia para mí narrar en esta colcha un poco de la historia de mi pueblo. En mi pueblo hay una gran cantidad de mujeres que viven solas con sus hijos pequeños porque la mayoría de los hombres vienen a los Estados Unidos
para trabajar y así darles una mejor vida a sus hijos. Las mujeres solteras tienen que esperar por años a sus novios quienes también vienen a trabajar y a ahorrar dinero para casarse. Es muy triste para algunas mujeres ver que regresan casados o dejan hijos abandonados. Soy muy afortunada en que mi esposo regresó después de ocho años para casarnos. Esta es mi primera colcha. Espero aprender muchísimo más sobre los detalles de las colchas que hicieron todas mis compañeras. He aprendido muchísimas cosas buenas de ellas. |
